The
person in a canoe represents the historical and human element.
Man’s presence is about 10,000 years old and this way of travel
is still visible today. The water under the canoe refers to
the two rivers, Kennebec and Chaudière, lying at the heart of
this development project, as they enabled innumerable commercial
and cultural exchanges. The fort illustrates a shared military
history for the two regions. The moose is a reminder of the
rich fauna along the corridor and represents an animal omnipresent
in Maine. Finally, the schooner represents the sea and refers
to the Atlantic Ocean, and to the popular activities linked
to the water.
